Ranil Wickremesinghe Seeks Blessings from Chief Prelates in Kandy

 

Kandy, January 23 — Former President Ranil Wickremesinghe visited Kandy this morning to pay respects and receive blessings from the Chief Prelates of the Malwathu and Asgiri Chapters.

During the visit, Wickremesinghe met with the Mahanayaka Thero of the Malwathu Chapter, Most Venerable Thibbotuwawe Sri Sumangala Thero. He later called on the Mahanayaka Thero of the Asgiri Chapter, Most Venerable Warakagoda Sri Gnanarathana Thero.

Sources indicate that discussions were held with the Maha Nayaka Theros focusing on the prevailing political and social situation in Sri Lanka.

After concluding the meetings, journalists attempted to seek comments from the former President on current political developments. Responding briefly, Wickremesinghe stated that he is not involved in active politics at present.
